This book of plain unlined paper has a cover that has been handmade by Colin using traditional bookbinding skills.  The inside pages have been selected to suit the style of the book and are suitable for sketching and writing with most media.

Specification

  • Size:  210 x 160 mm.   160 pages (80 leaves) stitched to allow book to open flat
  • Cover:   Half-bound in Japanese silk Bookcloth in Mulberry.  Special high quality Japanese Chiyogami paper featuring Pearl white and gold cherry blossom
  • Endpapers:   Curtis Fine Papers Classic smooth ivory paper
  • Paper:   120 gsm plain, slightly off-white, FSC smooth cartridge style paper, ideal for sketching
  • Finishes:   Silk hand-sewn red and gold headbands.  The last page carries an embossed stamp specially made for these books.   A materials list is included with each book detailing all the materials used as well as the specification (see samples in gallery images).

 

This book contains paper of a certain type and is fit for that purpose, but the suitability of this paper across all the many different types of media (ink, paint, pastels, crayons etc) cannot be guaranteed. If in doubt test a small area first.

Note: Curtis papers were a Scottish mill and supplier of high quality paper near St. Andrews in Fife, they ceased production in 2008 after 135 years of operations.  The range of papers they produced is now no longer available
