Sparrowhawk from life.

All my work is of course from life events that I have witnessed, but this is a quick sketch instead of a fully-worked drawing, which is unusual for me.  I don’t often produce quick sketches, preferring to work straight into a piece that will be finished when I am happy.  But the other day I was disturbed by some action around the beech tree and spotted a sparrowhawk going around the trunk under the bird feeders. I was just turning away when it launched itself straight at the window from the exact bush I was staring at (luckily there was no impact!)  It made such an impression that I quickly committed it to paper.
